A quick source of energy
Sugar Syrup
Beekeepers sometimes use specialist invert syrups, but for helping an individual tired bee you only need a small amount of inexpensive homemade sugar solution.
How to make it
- Put half a teaspoon of granulated sugar into a clean cup.
- Add half a teaspoon of hot tap water.
- Stir for about 90 seconds, until the sugar has dissolved.
- Allow it to cool, then use the pipette to fill the tube.
Offer only a small drop beside the bee. Do not use honey, and do not leave large open dishes in which insects could become trapped.
Please note: sugar water is not supplied with the BeeThrive kit.
